The Forgotten Ones

Last year, I was given this great book, "The Forgotten Ones" by Laura Howard to read and review. Sadly school and family got in the way and it sat in my inbox for a year. (I am so sorry Laura!)

When I finally popped open my kindle and sat down to read it, I was done in about 2 days. I was left with my jaw hanging wide open and "WHY!!!!!!!????????" bouncing around in my head (hubby was sleeping and I didn't want to wake him). So I asked her.. WHY?!? Why would you leave me hanging like that and she laughed at me.

So here is my review of The Forgotten Ones

Synopsis:
Allison O'Malley's plan is to go to grad school so she can get a good job and take care of her schizophrenic mother. She has carefully closed herself off from everything else, including a relationship with Ethan, who she's been in love with for as long as she can remember.

What is definitely not part of the plan is the return of her long-lost father, who claims he can bring Allison's mother back from the dark place her mind has gone. Allison doesn't trust her father, so why would she believe his stories about a long forgotten Irish people, the Tuatha de Danaan? But truths have a way of revealing themselves. Secrets will eventually surface. And Allison must learn to set aside her plan and work with her father if there is even a small chance it could restore her mother's sanity.

Laura had me sucked in from the second it started. The story of Allison, her mother, and the pain in Allison's heart, which is written beautifully by Laura, pulls you in and breaks your heart. Allison has these dreams, with people she has never seen, and places she has never been.

Suddenly her father shows up, and she realizes that he has been in the dreams. Allison learns the truth about her father and others that are like her father. We learn of the Tuatha de Danaan; who they are and where they are from, and what the connection is to her mother and her mental state.

The very end of the book leaves you wanting more and more and makes you want to find Laura's house and pound on her door until she gives you book two (which is coming soon!)

I give this book ♥♥♥♥.
I cannot wait until the next one comes out so that I can get more on Allison and her family!
